GSR header...4-2-1 or 4-1?
I just read on this with B16's here on HT.
Searched for my questions answer and didn't get it.
Which would be better for a B18C1/GSR motor?
4-2-1 or 4-1
What is the stock exhaust manifold on a GSR? I'll probably go with the stock way, but with DC Sports.

It depends on what kind of power you are looking for. If you want a little more torque get the 4-2-1. The 4-2-1 is a good header for around town driving because of the bottom end power. The 4-2-1 also has more ground clearance. If you drag race and you want top end power then the 4-1 would be a better choice. Hondas make all their power on the top end anyways, so if you are always in vtec I would go with the 4-1. Oh, and the stock Gsr header is a 4-2-1. Hope this helps.
Thanks. A lot of my races are on the street so a 4-2-1 would probably be better. I can't get to the track that often to go open throttle. I went to http://www.dcsports.com and the 4-1 gives so much more power, but high end. Do ya think the 4-1 would be better cause I'm already gonna make up for torque w/ having a 1.8? I just want the motor to breath easier and feel it's at a normal setting. Hope ya can understand what I mean there in the previous sentance. Thanks again.
I went to DC Sports website and I looked at the dyno chart where they had a 1 piece 4-1 vs a 1 piece 4-2-1. The test was done with B16 engine though but it is close enough. The graph showed that below 5000 rpm the 4-2-1 had more power and torque but above that the 4-1 dominated. I am sure the Gsr would be about the same. Hope this helps. Personally I would get the 4-1 but that is just me.
Although I maintain that its good to have low end torque and a good lauch, I would definetly sacrifice the 1.5 gears worth of low end for the end result of more high end in 4 gears.
I'm for it...4-1. Would anyone go with a different header the DC? I've thought about APEXi, but I don't understand why it cost so much more other than being stainless steel. Any hp difference between the brands? Thanks again for the input. I like the look of the 4-1 better. Guess I should try something different for a change. Been running 4-2-1 on all my former Hondas.
Im trying to decide on the same thing. Does anyone know if there is a significant difference between the regular DC 4-1 and the DC JDM 4-1?
And, how much better is the comptech compared to either of the above DC's.

regular DC 4-1 has 2.25" collector whereas JDM DC 4-1 has 2.5" collector.
GSR has pretty good stock header, just by swapping the headers you will gain 1-3 hp max. Intake, Header, Exhaust will give better gains. Still dumping $400 for a few hp is a waste of $ for me. Turbocharging is much better way of going fast IMO.

yea but turbo on a stock engine? you'd probably want a turbo ready exhaust and a header to acomadate the newly forced air better. just a thought though... I'd get the 4-2-1 better for all around driving 4-1 better for the strip...
Comptech = power increases throughout rpm(more usable power)
=most expensive of the two
=step design
DC Sports 4-2-1 = power increases from low to mid
with sacrifice at the top-end :
=non-step design
DC Sports 4-1 = loses low-end power
, but makes up for top-end
=non-step design
Most newer header are now step design to create an anit-reversion effect and produce better torque. I would personally choose the Comptech for it's more usable power compare to the other two, unless you plan on going for a HyTech or JDM header, which will not bolt-on to your cat.
