wierd problem. Lights wont work. Please help
Hello all. Recently I purchased a 1998 CW ITR, and it has a couple issues I need to address.
Mainly with the lighting.
The cars headlights work, but the gauge cluster lights and taillights wont work. The gauge cluster works fine though, and the ABS/SRS and other warning lights still work. Mainly just the lights that light up the tach/spedo dont work. I have a spare Civic Type R steering column, and if I plug the headlight assembly wires from the ITR harness into the CTR column, it will then cause the taillights to work and headlights to not work anymore haha. I have checked all the fuses many times, and they are all fine. I also have checked as many wires as i could see and cant seem to find anything wrong. I dont think its the dimmer switch either, they have the same plug as a civic, so i plugged my civic dimmer into the ITR to just troubleshoot the problem and still got nothing. I can tell the car did have some gauges in it at one point though...any ideas?
Also, the heater decided to not work now. It wont blow any air out at all though, hot nor cold. Is there any way i can test to see if its the blower motor before I go taking everything apart?
Any help would be much appriciated, and im sorry if someone has already posted a thread about this. Thanks in advance!

I beleive the blower motor is accessible from under the dash/glovebox area.
Get yourself a volt/ohm meter which is what I hope you are using for the checking of the fuses (not a test light), and check power and grounds at the blower motor connector. I dont have a wiring diagram in front of me but if you do. Read it and start off with the blower motor diagnosis. If it has power and proper ground with vehicle ign on and blower motor set to on on a.c controls then possibly it is a blower motor resistor. I also dont know where it is located but generally they are in close relation to blower motor.
Refer to the wiring diagram or a chiltons would be best.
Good luck.
PS the aftermarket gauges could have everything to do with the lighting inside the vehicle being faulty.
Shorted wire etc.
Remove the inst pack and check around the cigarette lighter/radio area to see where the took power for the gauges at.

you sure the fuses are all ok? do you have an aftermarket head unit? my gsr was doing the exact same thing, head lights were fine, but the tail lights would work (although the break lights did) and the gauge cluster also didn't light up. it turns our some of the electrical tape came off of a wire left over from the head unit install leaving it exposed and it was grounding itself and blowing a fuse.
worth looking into at least.

I'm having the same issue too. Mine was working fine till I hit a big bump on the highway. Then it just stop working. I already check all of the fuse, they're all fine. I guess it could be the grounds.
Wiring problems are only simple if you get lucky. So I have no magical anwser for you. But if you was me, I'd start with the gauge cluster, find out which wire powers the lights. Trace this wire back until you find your problem. I'd prolly pull the dash, to make it easiser in the long run.
