Default Slightly ripped CV boot, can I fix?

I split it barely open on the boot that is closest to the knuckle. It is the part of the boot that is covering the metal of the largest part of the axle. It is a brand new axle. It was stubborn to go into the hub and I had to use a wrench and a hammer but I still slightly split the boot. Any type of adhesive I can use?

Maybe rubber cement? It isn't any part of the boot that flexes/stretches, it is stationary. I left it alone before and it was time for another new axle. Any product good to seal the really small split?

I'm sure you could put gasket maker on it but it's going to rip anyways

black rtv silicone. works great for me. glob it on and cover all around the split, and rub it into the split if you can.

Yea, there are patching materials out there.

Although band-aids do fall off eventually, so do save up for some boots later on.

Trying to figure it out from the helms. Do I have to disassemble the whole axle now?

If its the outer joint then yeah. Its not a particularly hard job, just messy.

Not worth it then. I'll patch it with silicone and see how it holds. I've had two others already verify it will hold up in the spot I have it. It's just a hairline split on a part that doesn't stretch much. But the grease will fling out of there. It happened on my Del Sol once.

I removed this same axle like two times this weekend from the hub and reinstalled because I'm an idiot, and the third time, I cracked her. Should have lubed her up.

If not, it's lifetime warranty. If they won't swap it, I'll just cough up 50 bucks.

Just return your half shaft and have it replaced under warranty.
