Default I need Lunching tips!! please!!

Hey guys i want to drag race in the near future with my integra. Keep in mind that it is pretty stock except for a few bolt ons. Stock tires. Stock suspension and i basically need a tutorial of how to launch a street legal car. What rpm's..to launch at and what to do with the clutch. How to shift and everything. Keep in mind i dont want to completly tear up the car (I know launching does hurt the car a bit) But i want to try to keep everything as good as shape as possible.

THanks!!! any help is appreciated!!!

I came in here to do that.

As far as launching, drop your tire pressure some and preload the car (have the clutch partially released while holding the car in place with the e-brake). RPM's vary by car and setup, just try different things and watch your 60' times to see if the change made it better or worse.

No tutorial is gonna help you more than experience. Go to the track, talk to a couple of gurus there, and practice, practice, practice.

depending on tires.... I would start your tire pressures around 22psi, and try anything as low as 18psi. I did really well in that range, if you can log all the info about the weather, and temps and tire pressures and log your 60fts, it will take the guess work out of setting the car up. I never preloaded the clutch with the ebrake like mentioned, I always held the revs to about 4500 or as high as 5500 and slipped the clutch out... sometimes it spun to much and sometimes it hooked and took off. I used to get 2.1 60s on stock suspension and stock tires.... so just keep trying different things.... just log your passes.... write down all your shift points and everything. If you haven't cammed your GSR I can tell you that taking your car all the way to redline probably will hurt your times.... GSR cams sign off up top, you might end up shifting earlier than the 8K redline. once again these are all things you are gonna have to try and learn.... there is definitely a learning curve drag racing.... you will find out you get better and better each time you get out there.

good gawd.

i am guessing you have a stock or organic clutch so preloading is out of the question.

rev between 3 and 6k and slip the clutch out.

or search preloading. and see what you come up with.

thanks for your info man...but this is where i run into question...when you see green do you floor it hard WHILE slipping the clutch? do you floor it after you release the clutch? or do you eas the gas? thats where my problem is. how long do you have the clutch in at the line like while hammering the gas? im confused about that process

If your in competition, your gonna wanna leave on the third yellow light, because by the time your eyes translate that third yellow beam to your body to tell it to launch the car and your car acting upon your inputs... it will already be green and you will cut good lights. I hold the gas down till I get to the rpm I wanna launch from and I begin to ease the clutch so I can just feel it grab but not move me... then when the beams drop I let the clutch out and as it begins to move I punch the throttle and let the clutch completely out.... there is some wheelspin but not much.

But you won't have to preload your car much at all. Just let the clutch out (do not read: dump the clutch) from like 5000 rpm +/- 1000 rpm.
