Default H.I.D Lights

Has any one swapped out the factory light bulbs for H.I.D's. If so what brand did you use, what K rating did you go for, how much did you pay for the kit, and got any pics. Thanks

4300k is OEM HID color, and once you get higher 'k' ratings, you're sacrificing the color for light output. That's why you see idiots with purple headlights that put out less light than your stock halogens.

I always recommend retrofit because you're taking the projectors from a car that came with HID and putting them in your car, offering the best solution in performance.

Kits usually just blind people because the beam is not focused properly (HID light in a halogen housing) and are prone to breaking due to the cheaper components.

But of course you'll have 3 people agree with me and 5 other people say 'naw dogg kit's fine hella 6,000k for $150 shipped!'

Yeah, there are a bunch of retrofits on here.
If you don't feel comfortable trying it or just want to read up on it, check these guys out. They've got a great reputation on here.

Retrofit is the way to go like what accordselux stated. But most people you'll run into this forum don't have a 1k to spend on just the lighting of their car and will settle for pnp kits. Make sure that if you're going to drop that cash on lights, you do your research on the projector/bulb temp/shroud combination.

He is nearly 100% correct except that when you raise the "k", you sacrifice light output for color, not the other way around. Selux, I'm sure that is what you meant, but I just wanted to clarify that.
