Exhaut ideas
I have a 97 accord se, I want to put a new muffler on it. I could just put a simple replacement on it. I heard however that there are mufflers or complete systems that sound the same but give more hp. I'm not looking for a loud exhaust. Any suggestions
You can graft the Muffler from a '94 - 97 EX w/dual tips.
It flows better than the DX, LX and SE version or
Apexi WS2 (World Sport ll) or equivilent.
I would stay away from "flow-thru" mufflers or any systems based on them if the Police in your area enforce noise ordinances.

My initial instinct is to say that the EX muffler should fit right on with no issues.
heading to www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and looking at the diagrams for the two versions should give you a better idea

I would hate to order it and not have it fit.
Common sense would dictate that it would be the same.
I have never figured out why the bumpers on all accords have the same exhaust cutout but only the ex has the 2 tip muffler.

I got the bosal ex muffler and the bosal bolt kit.
The muffler fit great, however the bolt kit was a little less than desirable.
The springs were just as long as the bolt shaft making it difficult to get them in the holes, also the threaded portion was too short to get them in. I was able to get 1 in by using a c clamp to press it in then get the nut on, but after about 20 or 30 mins trying to get the 2nd one in, I gave up and used one of the old rusty ones. The stock bolts were slightly longer with the threaded portion making it much easier to install.

Yes, the complete Bosal exhaust for the EX will bolt right up to the DX, LX chassis. I had no problems with bolts, flanges or gaskets when I replaced my cat back with the Bosal B pipe & Muffler. Sounds really good as well. Never put it on the dyno but I'm sure it freed up a few ponies.
