broken bolt..
Hey guys, so here is the scoop... a bolt came off from inside the timing belt cover of my friends DA that has a b18a in it and destroyed the timing belt. As we were replacing the timing belt, we went to tighten down the tensioner bolt and the head snapped off.. So we used a bolt extractor, as we have done many times before, and the extractor actually snapped off inside the hole we drilled into the tension bolt to remove it.. I have tried alot of things I have found on the internet but have had no luck with any of them, used a mig to build a bead so I can get vice scripts on it, even welded a nut to the end of the bead to maybe even get a wrench on it.. I was hoping someone might have some input. Are you able to drill the hole bolt out and retap it with a different sized bolt? Anything would be appreciated. Thanks.
I wonder if the tensioner bolt was stripped or something previously...Anyway it would be hard to retap it, because the slot for the tensioner is only so big. I don't know if a bigger size would work or not. Good luck, and if you do retap it, watch your depth!
