how to fix run in base coat
just wet sand the base coat after its dried. If its a metallic you will need to spray some base back over top to blend it in. If you ran the base your going to be in trouble when u try shooting the clear. Base is the easiest thing to spray.
Well it worked out pretty nice.
I sprayed three coats of base, and the third coat covered up the runs. Pretty nice.
My only annoying issue was when the friggin cord from the paint gun got caught on the door and smeared the paint.
Other than that, pretty much for the first time using real car paint, Im pretty satisfied with the ending product.
mabey a little wet sanding and another coat of clear, and call it a day.

Next time instead of sanding and using a abrasive wheel on the angle grinder Im going to actually use sand blaster.

Wow, your paint job looks like ***. You didn't even fix the dent by the tailight. 0_0
Why would you waste your time painting it?
BTW you didn't get complete coverage at all on the car. It'll show like stripes in the daytime.

Wow, thats real feedback I was looking for.
Thanks guys.
I painted it for a friend, I showed him the pics and he loved it. If he complains when he picks it up than Ill go for a wetsand and respray.
I didnt notice that dent until you said so. All I did for the guy was what he asked, which was get the front bumper and rear bumper fixed. The front bumper was smashed up when I picked it up from him and the rear bumper was cracked.
The paint itself is a little funky to begin with, its Snake Skin Green, it has a funky texture.

man that fender looks dry as hell, and is it me or did you spray way too much paint on the corner of that rear bumper. definitely needs some body issues addressed. I mean if this was your first time painting than it doesnt look super bad, if youve been painting a while than you definitely need some help. All i know is i cant believe dude wanted to take a nice srt-4(which usually look pretty good and the stock paint doesnt look bad if taken care of) and let a sub par paint job go on it. ughhhgh.
Doesnt matter the name of the paint. It def should not have any sort of texture to it. If it did then either you mixed it wrong, its old or you sprayed it wrong (Air Pressure incorrect, Crap gun, To far away, Humidity or temperature issues) I would be embarassed and ashamed to even show that to anyone. A dented and scratched stock paint job is by far better than what u have now. Sorry for the honesty.
Did you use a real paint gun with air, or like a ryobi plug in spray gun ? If you didnt use an air compressor and a real paint gun with air, than that will explain the paint issue. Auto paint needs to be atomized and requires certain pressures and fluid tips and many other air involved things to do so correctly, not just pushed through a hole like an elec powered paint gun used for home latex paints.
Im sorry, I forgot I had another thread on this board. I thought I was still in it or everyone read the other threads.
Yes, this would be the first time I used paints, from a real paint gun. The primer paint did sit for about a week fulley activated.
Brutal Honesty from complete strangers. Its the best truth.

hit that hoe with some 400grit to knock the peel down then go back over it with 600. fix the dent if you can correctly (not to be a d*ck) and respray that sh*t. it should be easier the 2nd ime around.
Man you guys are brutal...way to make someone not want to ever show they're work again! It's his first time, and it looks like a color that is tough to be consistent with spraying.
That said, you had mentioned using a sandblaster instead of an angle grinder...really neither should be used for body work unless your taking rust off of something. You should try block sanding with different grits to get a smooth finish with no ripples. Then primer and use a guide coat to block sand again to really get rid of waves. I think that would probably alleviate the issues on the front lip, and make the rear QP dent a lot better. If you have it in you to spray it one more time, that would be a big improvement! I just checked out your other thread too and it looks like there were a lot of spots where too much filler might have been applied also, and then it wasn't sanded smooth enough to look like a contour that previously existed. Try to be a little more patient in the prep, and your final will come out much better. It looks like you spent a lot of timing doing a good job taping things off, it just needs some more prep.
Constructive Criticism people...ever heard of it? He's learning, like we all are...
