so on my del sol i have 215/40/r17, and a new tire would cost me 100ish, around where im from, and im running on a spare, so i bought a 215/45, and its a little bigger but it touches the top of the body and its smelling like burnt, and my tire is wasting!!! heres a pick of my springs i have, and my question is are they adjustable or do i have to go find another 215/40

by the way im a new member i have a CRX DOHC ZC and a del slow stock motor non-vtec

 

your springs are not adjustable...

they arent? i heard u can buy spacers for them at a auto store...is that gonna help?

and i have no idea man, it still have 70percent thread in them, and then i was gong 60 on hwy and boom! i kept sliding until i reached the last lane, good thing i made it out ok...but i dont know man, im so pissed, new tires...looks like some one put a knife on the side wall and went all around ! but on the inside! (thats an example, no one would actually do that) but yea...sucks

 

well they do make things to spread out the springs (make em taller) or to clamp them down (make them shorter)

i don't recommend either way.. honestly it is kind of ghetto.

if you want to be fully adjustable look into getting a set of coil-overs. so you can adjust the ride height.

but seriously take those tires back to the ******** you bought them from, looks like a defective tire to me. i have had every suspension problem under the sun and have never seen a tire blow out like that from rubbing a little bit.

 

yea your right man, but the place i got them from is 2 hours away in car, so its cool...

i use to work in a tire shop, and more then likely what happened to the tire was the the tire pressure was really low, so when you were driving down the highway the sidewall was over flexing causing tons of heat also wearing out the sidewall like yous is and with all the heat the tire actually inflates it self to point of bursting. this is one reason why keeping track of tire pressure is so important. it's really hard to tell by looking at the tires with huge rims and the lack of sidewall on the tires
