Benson uses darton sleeves from what I remember. Benson has his custom made to his preference(sp) .

Straight from Laskey's website

The important thing is his name is on every block and there are no excuses. He uses a sleeve designed by himself, manufactured by Darton to his specs and no one else can purchase it from Darton. It has been perfected over the last 10 years to work flawlessly. The real secret is in the person that does the install and the precision quality they demand of themselves. This is what sets Benson way apart from the others.

$1000 is a more realistic price, at least w/o a core charge (which is very small after shipping). You can get local shops to do it cheaper, but I've heard some horror stories about that. Basicly if they screw up your block, they aren't liable.

you can research on laskey's website as well. i got benson sleeves on my gsr and after 3,000 miles i dont regret it. in my opinion i think that its worth every dollar. therefore save closer to a grand and get your block sleeved.

I would go with Darton. Look for the Darton sleeves with the deck plate, they are rated at 1200hp I think. Your motor will be set.

Honestly, both Benson and Darton are great, reliable sleeves. I didn't know you can sleeve a motor for 700 nowadays especially Darton and Benson. I settled for Golden Eagle and it only cost me $850.

Darton manufactures the sleeves that Benson installs.

so what sleeves does golden eagle use? i hear a lot of good things about ge, and with their pricing seeming much more competitive, why should one go with benson over ge? this is someone looking to make ~500whp. sorry to go off topic, but seemed like a good place to ask.

so you're saying that because of who is installing the sleeves at bensons justifies the higher price tag? still doesn't explain to me why ge has such a good rep and is much less expensive? is it that ge sleeves are manufactured at a cheaper rate and this is why ge is much more competitive in pricing? if its not the brand of sleeve you're using then why spend the extra money on darton sleeves?

Bad Info.
Golden Eagle Mfg. makes their own sleeves in house and do the install.

we have a lower price because we make all our sleeves in house. we do not sell our sleeves uninstalled so if you get a golden eagle sleeved block you know it came from us not some local machine shop that bought our sleeves and don't know how to install them right. we rate our sleeves at 1600+ hp or 70 psi they will hold pretty much what ever you throw at them if you have any questions fill free to pm me or give me a call 909-592-4311 ext 102
