OBD1 motor converted to OBD2a
I had a swap done a year a go by a local shop. I had a SIR2 b16a put in my 98 civic cx. At the time I did not know it was not a OBD2 engine. It has no Evap purge solenoid, no crank fluctuation sensor and no secondary O2 sensor or harness. It is a daily driver so I would like it to pass emissions. If i could use a factory harness that would be great. I really don't care what it costs as long as it is done right. I will ad the sensors i need to the motor. Any help i would really appreciate. Thanks
Soon I am going to create a FAQ topic about this very subject because it literally comes up 5-6 times a week, if not more. Had I not lost my recent topics a few weeks ago with the forum software change I'd have been able to just copy/paste the info.
At least you know what needs to be added - that's a good start.
CKF sensor (crank flux sensor) - Click HERE For CKF wiring Trick!!!
This wiring trick allows you to simply scotch lock four wires at the ECU to fool it into thinking you have a CKF sensor. Before this methog the only fix was buying and installing an OBD2 oil pump and CKF sensor - costly and a huge PITA just to clear a dumb check engine code.
Secondary o2 sensor:
You will basically need to install a second 02 sensor downstream in the exhaust, ideally in the back of your catalytic convertor if you have one. You'll have to wire it up from scratch and run the wires up the cross member and through the firewall, then into the ECU.
Here's a pin-out to help, courtesy of Katman of FF-Tech:

As far as the evap stuff goes I think you can add a vacuum Ts at the intake manifold and run the stock Civic evap stuff like the evap purge, charcoal canister, etc.
For some really cool info you can check out Katman's FF-Tech Site <------ Clickable

i do really appreciate the info and the diagrams alot. But isn't there a obd2 harness that would work like a 97 del sol vtec. I understand that i will have to add sensors but i really hate hacking up wiring.
Changing the engine harness will not do any good.
You'd still have to tear the timing belt assembly off and swap oil pumps if you wanted to add an actual CKF sensor.
If you wanted to buy a 96/97Del Sol VTEC harness that's fine, but I'm not sure how they ran the secondary o2 sensor. On the OBD2 99-00 Civic Si coupes and EX coupes the secondary o2 wiring was built into the chassis harness, not the engine harness. I'm not sure if the OBD2 Del Sol VTEC was the same or not.

if the secondary O2 is all i have to worry about then that is fine. As far as the ckf sensor i am about to put a gsr block in the car so i can add it to that oil pump. But of course that brings up another point. I want to bore the gsr block to 85mm 2.0l poormans type r. I wonder if i go through all this emissions crap if i could get the 2.0 to pass emissions. The only reason i am worried about it is because i don't want to fix up my car and spend a lot of money on it then not be able to drive it when Tennessee passes emissions.
