Default What's the wear like for the RE-01R/Direzza Z1/R1R?

At least some of these tires have been out for awhile now, I was wondering if anyone had some experiences of how long they last on the street.

Given that they all seem to be generally faster than the Azenis I'm not expecting miracles, but it would be nice to know. Especially since they seem to be priced higher than the Azenis as well.
Just trying to start thinking about what to get for next summer.

First of all, the RE-01R and R1R are priced significantly more than the Azenis, but not the Direzza Z1, which is priced roughly the same.

I don't know the answer, but I doubt that they have less treadlife than the Azenis (but I also doubt they last a whole lot longer. The Azenis typically last 10-12K miles on the street; I don't know whether these others last the same, or more like 15-20K. Probably not any more than that though.

Anyone use up a set yet?

Probably not too many people throw on these tires just to drive around on the street, unfortunately (and I wouldn't, either).

I've read a lot of anecdotal comments on their wear but haven't seen many numbers thrown around. The R1R seems to be the quickest to wear of the 3 listed. Comments about the RE01R and Z1 seem to generally be positive (regards to wear).

4 track events, is that at a race track or a drag strip?

Time attack I dont drag race at the track any more.

Have some reo1s on my mr2 as well they have over 200 track kms and 8000 hard miles.

Still at around 65-70%

On a side note have some rt615s my brother used them at one track event and my mom drove on them for one summer and they are totally done. You really get what you pay for.

I've had my RT615s for roughly 4-5 months and I've put about 5,000 miles on them. I drive it to work everyday and a few times on the weekend. I don't do track days, but I do drive my car pretty hard. I would say they still have 80-90% tread left on the front and at least 90% on the back. The very shallow word Azenis is still visible on the tread on the back.

I doubt it. Most people get 10-12K miles to the Azenis, at which point they're toast.

Measure the tread depth, in 32nds of an inch, and then let us know what you find.

Agreed My moms 53 years old and the set of Azenis on her Volks are totaled after one summer of her babying them.
