Wastegate: To Vent or to recurculate
TurboSmart 38mm wastegate, gt3076R turbo.
Car is not daily driven, but is street driven.
I don't really care for the open wastegate sound, but, I am looking for the MOST performance out of my car as possible.
Vent the gate or to recurculate, What is proven the best ?
I do understand that if Vented, there is no possible resrictions and no reson for boost "creep"
I do understand and know that vented wastegate is annoying (Opinion, others may be different)
I do undertsand that if dont properly the gate Can be recurcilated, I assume you want NOT to create turbulance.
Reply away.

You are right of it being noisey, drivers all round me can hear it and some of them even move out of my way when they hear me coming from behind (something which I have to remember when the police are round). If you aiming high powers I would vent, I might be wrong but anyone else can correct me but recurculating will affect yout IAV tempteratures and hence peformance.
I used to have the gate recurculated and made 352 whp (Ford Zx2 )
I think this time I am going to vent, however, I do understand I do not want the gate ro dumb right into the engine bay, I dont want all that hot air in there. It will be dumped eather right out the front bumper or run along the exhaust and dump from behind the trans.
I wonder if one can put a "Muffler" on the tube, Mabey a lawn mower muffler?

I have a GT3076R on a full-race ramhorn manifold. Tial V44 wastegate with a dump tube ran back past the oil pan.
I can't seem to get boost to run any lower then 13psi. When trying to setup gear dependent boost for street tires it kind of sucks not being able to make less then right under 400whp...
I can't remember who, locash or miller come to mind but they posted in a thread a while back about having a similar street car setup. When they recirculated the dump tube into the down pipe they were able to run 4psi on the 3076r solid. They couldn't when it was open vent.
Another thing that sucks. Sometimes depending on the conditions you can see exhaust coming through the floorboard or firewall. Not much but kinda sucks when you got a chick in the car...
I'd love to try it on my setup but i'm hesitant to hack up my full-race 3" downpipe.

Recirculate the dump towards the end of the downpipe, have it come in at a shallow angle. It's always worked for me, and besides there isn't any power "lost" by recirculating, you merely lose some lower pressure ratio efficiency. As boost comes up and the bulk of the exhaust passes through the turbine instead of across the wastegatem the system efficiency comes back in line with an external dump system. Recirc vs non-recirc is merely a noise vs correctly designed for boost control argument.
Kind sir, have you heard of motorcycles?

Ive ran recirced and VTA on multiple cars and never ran into any issues as long as it was far enough from turbo to avoid turbulance 6 inches+.
I like mine Recirced alot quieter the car is loud enough on its own

Not anything definitive, wish I'd been through more of the setups to know better.
