Default shifting problem

I have 05 civic sI. I drove the car all day with no problem shifting. I parked the car and when I went back and started the car when i press the clutch to put into gear and would not engage. The only way i was able to put into any gear was I had to shut the car off and then put into gear. I then was able to get it going ether on first or second gear and power shift all the way home. Can it be possible my clutch gave out? Even with out warning or is it some thing else? Please help.

This happened to me when I used to have a 240sx, it turned out that my slave cylinder went out or whatever and it started leaking all the clutch fluid and then it lost all pressure and I had to drive home from work in rush hour traffic turning the car on and off to get going. Is it leaking any fluid and do you have pedal pressure still?

That is true. A couple of friends project has the same problem. We were actually at the track and the driver of the car had gone to put race fuel and weigh the car, and when he came back the slave cylinder went out to. So it could possibly be the slave cylinder.
