Icon2 stuck on shocks

This winter Im goin to order suspension for my 4th gen.. I am goin to go with tanabe front & rear upper strut bars, tanabe front and rear lower sway bars also, and skunk2 adj. coilovers.. But Im stuck on what shocks to go with Im between Tokico HP shocks/struts (light blue) or KYB AGX shocks/struts (red).. If anyone has any sugestions on which shocks i should settle with I would appricate it..

tokico blues are stock replacements... illuminas are the adjustable ones
or you could just do it right the first time and get koni yellows

Koni Yellows, hands down. Back when I had my Civic, I had 5 different suspension setups. The best one by far was my Koni yellow/Ground control coil over setup.

If I was going to do suspension on my Lude, it would be Koni/GC for sure.

Strut bars don't do much, esp in a good chassis like the Prelude. Skip the Skunk2's and buy Ground Control. Neither of your shock options are good, go with Koni Yellow's.

Skip the strut bars, and front sway-bar. Spend the savings on Koni.

Rear-bar, get the ST.

From riding cheap shocks with springs for a long time, then going to KONI's, I will also say find some KONI's, used if you need, thats how I got mine.

I hear the AGX's are ****. i'm really frustrated because i've been sitting here for 35 mins looking for the site I went to years ago that tested many shocks popular for todays market on a dynamometer. basically IIRC most of today adjustable damping shocks have a **** method and don't even work. out of a given batch of shocks, when adjusted to full hard wouldn't change from the middle setting and full soft would be sometimes way too soft, or get harder. Basically they are very unpredictable. I remember there was a shop that was trying to get a group buy of shocks for a specific model and test the shocks and group into pairs of similar compression and rebound rates. with even the same make and model many shocks don't have similar rebound and compression rates. I think it was D2 who used to have graphs of their shocks/coilovers on the website but the new site doesn't seem to have it. (help anyone?)
I don't know if there is a good suspension write-up on here, there shoudl be..

https://honda-tech.com/forums/suspension-brakes-54/%5Bfaq%5D-shock-dynos-1104049/

take a look there to learn a thing or two..

I would really like to remember where i found that write-up, maybe someone else can find it. if there is an informative thread like the one posted above with more information, please show a link. WAY too many people buy shocks and coilovers and end up with a lowered, shitty handling car. sorry for going on and on, it's late and i can't help it

Skunk2's don't with the Koni's, and if iirc the quality isn't great. You can search the suspension forum for the details.

You strut bars and lower tie bars are an absolute waste of money, any brand.

You should do some research on how much lowering springs lower the car before pissing money away.

Two points, first most lowering springs won't drop your car on the pavement, they give a 1-2 inch drop usually. Thats why you just need to do research. For example, Neuspeed offers 2 different springs for our cars, a small drop 1-1.5 inchs with more relaxed rates, and a "Race" that drops 2.25-2.5 and is stiffer.

Also, the Koni yellows have an adjustable perch, aka they have 3 different setting for where you can have the spring perch at, so you can drop or raise the car that way as well. Normal Koni's have 3 settings, the Neuspeed version has 5.

I can say, with my setup, Neuspeed Race springs, and the Neuspeed Koni's, I have my car too low to drive comfortably, and it is so low it doesn't handle as well as it could, the angles on my control arms are too far off from level to start, let alone when compressed. I will be raising it back up about an inch when I get around to it. Looks sweet though!
