Default Huge oil leak!

problem happen 2 me last night.
i first tried starting up the car, but kept shutting off, it went on for about 2 secs then off again like 5 times. than i pulled out of my drive way with my lights off and drove around for about 10 mins till i saw my oil light came on. i was 5 mins away from home so proceeded to drive home. i come to my drive way and see a huge puddle of oil on my drive way and a trail on the street.
its comming from the side of the motor where the timming belt and cam gears are.

what should i check, look for, and what needs to be replaced/fixed? does any1 have any ideas as why this would happen?

thanks in advance.

BTW is a 01 lude.

Sounds like a seal might of went bad. The only thing you can do is remove the valve cover and check the cam seals. If those are fine, then you will need to remove the lower cover and check those seals. Before you do that, make sure it is coming from that area. If you are already ripping all that down and haven't done a timing belt change, I would go ahead and do that. Then you can go ahead and replace all your seals, change the water pump, and have it all done.

With that much oil coming from the side of the motor, my first guess would be balancer shaft seal. There was a TSB regarding the seal popping out on it's own.

If it is the balancer seal, make sure you get the seal plate. Honda should know that.

Find out where the leak is from before ordering parts. Blindly doing so is just wasting time and money.
