OIL Everywhere
okay so this morning i go out too my car and start it up let it warm then shut it off for a while cuz something came up around my house! i go back out there and for some reason i just decide too check out how everything is under the hood.
i look and there's oil everywhere by the timing belt area(i have no timing belt cover bottom and top) there's a big puddle of oil by the cams underneath them where the headgasket is possible too see.
and so its all over the timing belt and all over the Alternator Belt and alternator? and it got on the body under the hood. i cleaned it up somewhat. but i noticed it goes all the way down the block by the timing belt?
What Happened?
what you guys think it is?
Oh...motor is a b16a2

Re: OIL Everywhere (-HONDA-)
clean your motor good with some degreaser and check where the oil is leaking from first...could be rubber valve cover gasket...just check wheres its leaking from first..

Re: (-HONDA-)
if your burning oil, i would say is your piston rings...i doubt its you headgasket but not 100% sure...usually when a headgasket goes out, it causes water to mix with the oil...maybe someone can chime in and correct me if im wrong...maybe your cam seals are crap...causing oil to leak out from from the camgears area..

Like someone said, clean the motor and try to see where the oil is coming from. Is your oil filter double gasketed? Valve cover gasket pinched? Vtec solenoids leak pretty often. If the compression is 180 across, its probably not your rings. Check your valve seals. How do you know if you're burning oil, since you're losing it at such a fast rate? Your headgasket isnt the cause of your oil burning problems. Maybe your friend tore up another seal inside the motor. It's most likely valve seals though. Just replace them. It's worth it to find out anyway. The oil on your timing belt will not make it skip a tooth. HOWEVER, it can dryrot and crack the rubber because used oil is caustic and it destroys certain types of rubber. It would have to have a lot of exposure though.

Until you figure out where the oil is coming from drive it like an old lady. Degrease the engine at a spray and wash and see where it is coming from. Where is your oil puddle located on the ground that could point you in the right direction.

another thing you should check, make sure your oil filter is on tight cause it can leak alot from there..
