So I want to rebuild my head and would like to know any opinions of what combinations and brands work best? Cams, cam gear, valves, seats, retainers, and springs.

and about how much is safe to mill?

I'm not going turbo, and its my daily driver.

First off, you might tell us what kind of head it is. What are you power goals?

 

my fault, I have a D16y8 stock. I never rebuilt a head for performance so I dont really know were to start. I want to get around 190hp. Im probably having headers made at the shop. and I have a 2.5 exhaust cat back. and a cold air intake. I'm looking at skunk2 stage 1 camshaft and cam gear and springs. I dont want to rebuild the bottom end. so I guess my question really is what is the most efficient and reliable setup and what Ideas does anyone have that the have done.

 

tell me how you plan on getting 190hp on a d16 out of head build then send me everything u did so i can use it i mean its possible but u gota have a pretty penny.

 

There is no way your going to get 190 hp out of a d without upping the compression. I'd look into turbocharging if you want that power without touching the bottom end...
