shattered crank pulley?
So...yesterday i decided to take my eg hatch out for a drive since it hasnt been driven for a while...
Anyways, i decided to get on it. It was running great and i got cought by a red light. i took off again and got on it and when i grabbed second gear, something happend...a loud thud and a knocking sound and my battery light came on....(H22A4 swap btw) so its just knocking super loud and i thought i killed the motor.
So to sum up this story i got back to my appartment and pop the hood and there lays my outer shell of the crank pully but the rest of the pully is gone. soo i start finding little pieces of the pully laying throught the engine bay.
Anyone else out there have their crank pully just shatter on them?

yea this happened to me the other day actually, same exact thing, i was on the highway, heard a small thud, battery, oil, and all the other lights popped up, i pulled the car over, tried to crank but nothing, got it towed back to my house where i relized it was my timing belt, bent a valve cover when it happened, good luck with the fix
I've seen a few come apart. But I gotta wonder if your mounts allowed the motor to flex enough that it hit the frame rail. If not, sounds like you might have had one that dry rotted out where the rubber damper connects the outter ring with the center.
