Crank Pulley Fell off.. WTF
Ok.. so yeah i went into subway to get something to eat, car was running fine, jsut drove it about 3 miles from school, get to subway and turn engine off, go inside come out, start my car and i hear a Pop clink! sound when it starts... i knew my altornator was going out, and i saw my batterie light pop on, i figuard that was the problem, but my car was still running and o drove it home(about another mile or two). Got home and poped my hood and my whole god damn crank pulley had fallen off and was just held in place there by my belt witch was still attached around the pulley of the Alt. So my questions is what in gods name would have made my Crank pulley just FALL off when most people have a hell of a time getting theres off? WTF! i searched and i did hear a high pitch whineing sound when it was running, and found that it was from the pulley not being on and such but did not hear any other such stories.. Help please?

who ever took off the crank pulley the last time didn't torqued it down to factory specs. What was the last time you had someone work on your car? Better back track to that person. They should be the one held repsonible for your problems.

^my friends 94 coupe had his pulley fall off on the freeway. He actually saw it rolling next to him on the freeway. Never ever messed with it or took it off. The car made it to the first off ramp and into a parking lot then cut out. The belt fell off of the cam gear and cut through the plastic on the side. He got a new one and it started up just fine.

Re: (93Civac)
My friend's car was a 94 DX 170XXX miles on it. I couldn't believe it when he told me. I had never heard of it just falling off before him.

who knows whoever took it off last probably put some anti seize lube on the threads of the crank bolt and it loosened itself through harmonic balance..

hahahaha i laugh because the same **** happened to me when i did my first timing belt change. hopefully u still have the crank pulley. i did but i lost the key so i went to honda and coughed up $2.50 for a new key and $20 for a new crank pulley bolt and washer. dont worry about internals, u should be fine...mine was anyway.
