Default speedo has its own ideas

I am having teh same problem with my 99 SI. It's rare but it jumps around and sometimes goes all the way to 100 when im only doing 40 then slowly goes back to 40 then dies and so on. Not sure what it is but I would like to know what to look for also.

Could be a bad gauge cluster, bad vss, or wiring from the vss.
