Bad Compressor??
After servicing the car and some maintenance issues resolved, the freon on my '03 4 Cyl Automatic EX Sedan, was emptied out.
Now I'm trying to re-charge the system, but the A/C compressor will not come on at all.
I'm not a certified mechanic, but know my way around cars. I have checked all fuses, connections, as far as I can tell. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what I may be missing??
I'd hate to go out and purchase a new compressor and have it be something simple. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thx,
Augie

The low/high pressure switch needs to send a signal to the compressor to turn on. If you're trying to recharge using a can and low side adapter, make sure the valve is turned on to pressurize the system and allow the switch to turn the compressor on. It would be wise to have a shop evacuate, vaccum, and recharge the system for you. You will not get optimum performance until all the air and moisture is removed from the system and charged with the precise amount of refrigerant.
