has anyone used these, what kind of power increase has been seen? i actually purchased a set before i realized that they are not variable timing rockers, that they in fact eliminate the variable timing. now i don't know if i want to keep them or not b/c i was actually planning on using Crower turbo design VTEC cams. just wonderign if anyone had any opinions on them
I think they ( Crane ) have steel race cams only for the H22.
To bad they aren't variable. It would help out in the power department

Damn man I guess I nrver really read the small print. Ouch, I was going to get them just to help beef up my valve train. They are light so I think they would help rev quicker and have the ablity to raise red line if you wanted to.
lots of people disengage VTEC on race H22A's. Pretty much takes care of the overlap problem.
AS for the roller rockers themselves, I don't remember fully, but aren't they not supposed to be installed in a street car?
Not that it's ever stopped me before, just curious if I'm remembering correctly.

yes Todd, your right, they're actually supposed to be used only on race cars, but i know a lot of guys that run roller rockers on Mustangs, Camaros etc daily. Once i realized that those thing eliminated VTEC, i decided i din't want them b/c the car is still somewhat daily driven, and i wouldn't have very good low end, or midrange power. i decided to go with my original plans of using Crower turbo cams w/ high duration and low overlap. i'll be sure and keep you posted on the ful buildup process. check the link below for a list of whats in store for my Prelude
since i don't have vtec on my 92 lude 2.3L...isn't it possible for me to put these roller rockers in my head?? I want a daily driveable car too and i plan to go turbo too, so what do you think? Why does it rob you from low end power if they are lighter?? Shouldn't they make you rev quicker all throughout the power band? sorry for all the questions!

VTEC engines have 3 cam lobes per cam, per cyilinder, primary, secondary, and VTEC. basically what happens is the rockers on a VTEC engine are on a shaft, they have three spots on them for the three lobes (can't think of what exaclty you call them at the moment). the outer lobes are the primary and secondary an the middle is the VTEC. there is a pin inside of these that connects them all together when VTEC engages. what happens is when your engine reaches opertating temp and correct oil pressure, the VTEC solenoid pushes the pin at the given RPMs to connect the 3 sections of the rockers, to make them as if they are on solid piece. the VTEC lobe on the cam being the higher lobe, that single lobe then controls both valves.
so, to your question, no, they won't work in an H23 b/c what these rockers do is eliminte the variable timing b/c they are a solid piece at all times. they rotate on the rocker shaft, and i do not believe the H23 has those (not 100% on that, but i know non-VTEC B series engines don't have rocker shafts)
i hope i gave you a good explanation of why they won't work on your engine. i read a better explanation somewhere, her is a link to a pretty good one though too.
