86mm GE Sleeves, possible?
hey guys i have this ge sleeved and o-ringed b20 that is just about 86mm. I have decided to re-sleeve it if i use it at all. Just wanted to double check on here and get your guys opinions. Everyone i have spoken to thinks its pretty much a waste of money and time to try and use it how it is, and i agree. just thought id be sure. 500whp is the goal as well.
thanks
thanks
86.mm on FI is not a good idea. I would send it in to get resleeved. In the long / short run if you don't resleeve you would be spending more, than if you would have started fresh with a resleeve.
86mm NA on a an 84mm is rather common for a B20, but I'd look at the components and parts to use before you decide. It would be a shame to destroy something once, and can't the parts needed to replace.
OP, there you go, $550 for a resleeve. How much more would you end up spending if you were to build the block and have it take a sh*t on you?
great customer service GE.

people do it for crazy high boost cars ive seen or heard of a few supras in the 1500whp range doing it how muxh stronger it makes your block i dont no but it sure as hell prolly keeps **** from moving around in there
ok yea pretty much what i expected/kinda wanted to hear. Yeah i Pmed golden eagle last week for a quote so yea, i figure around $650 for a resleeve+oringed after shipping is all said and done? not a bad choice and pretty much my only option unless i want to waste more money. thanks guys
lol i honestly want to, but i cant hardly afford to buy and assemble everything once. I definitely dont want to do it twice. plus it will be a daily driver and see some long distance trips. reliability is very important
i dont, i purchased the block used and was under the impression it would be fine to use. I get it and its 86mm and still needs a hone lol. if anything i would just be trying to "make do" with what i have. what bore do you guys recommend for when i get it re-sleeved? like 83mm?
Even if you found an idiot, I mean NA guy to buy it for a decent price, you'd still be paying about as much to get a sleeved LS block from GE. In the end I'd choose the resleeving, due to it being a good deal. I'd go with 83-85mm, depending on the goal.
