optima battery install
sup guys,
im about to install my new yellow top optima battery in the trunk. i had a couple of questions for those who had already done a battery relocation to the trunk, or just battery experts.
1) i have a amplifier ground wire that i put near the spare tire area. can i put the battery ground in the same place, or do i need a new ground area for the battery ground?
2) is it ok to just solder the positive cable to my monster cable up in the engine bay and then tape it up?
3) what should i do with the ground cable in the engine bay? tape it up and zip tie it somewhere?
4) should i install a fuse for the positive cable going to the battery?
thanks

Are you installing it as a 2nd battery or as the main battery? Contrary to common belief Optima batteries will fit in the front of the car. All you have to do is trim the extra plastic off the bottom of the battery (do NOT trim any of the cylinder plastic).
1) Ground the battery to any good contact point try to keep the cable short.
2) Use some type of distribution block because you will need a contact point for additional 12v connections.
3) just disconnect it and put it away for safe keeping.
4) use a stereo circuit breaker for the battery if you are relocating the main battery to the rear of the car. Use atleast a 100amp breaker.
Use atleast 2 gauge wire to connect the battery to the main fuse block. Using a (1) 2 gauge to (4) 8 gauge distribution block will make things easier on the eye and will give you two extra 8 gauge 12v access points.
