New wheels leaking air...
2 of my brand new wheels are leaking air.
What could cause this besise the tires?
I'm taking them to the people who mounted the tires on them friday. The wheel manufacture said its most likely that the bead around the tire didn't seat well. Any other ideas of what it could be?
They're leaking pretty bad. One goes from 30lbs to 12lbs in about 1-2 weeks.

I'm going to go with valve stems on this one too....
They're going to have to remount the tires regardless...might be worth the extra couple bucks for new ones (they should cover this anyway)

i used to work at a tire shop............and just go back to the shop and say that you need some bead seal.....that will probably solve your problem......
Have you tried the old soapy water trick...that would tell you where the leak is for sure.
Also what size tire are you mounting onto what size rim? Just another question that would help us out here...

It could be the valve stem, it's a very easy mistake to crack one. It could also be the bead, if no lube was applied or the rook installer thought he was pro he could have torn the bead(s) and not even think twice!! I've seen it done too many times...

Just to make sure, you overinflate the tires by 10lbs or so, and put soapy water around the edge of the rim and look for bubles right?
thanks for everyones help
Interesting, ... thanks (valve stem)
Maybe that's the problem wit my Mom's car!
She tends to drive really close to the curbs.
And it's a slow but consistent leak which started quite a while after the tires were mounted.

Metal valve stems always leak.. they SUCK.
don't leak at all.
Metal valve stems suck. I've had 3 of 8 of the blingy blue valve stems leak on my Koseis.
All the metal ones are far more prone to leaking or breaking.

My 4 new tires were leaking 1-2 weeks after the install, but after 2 weeks they were "bedded in" and they didn't leak anymore, strange. I didn't do anything....
Discount Tire put valve stems of the metal variety on my tires. No leaks yet for 5 months/ 6k miles.
They put these on by default (i suspect) because they cost more.

BTW - What size tires on what rim again?
