Default thermostat area

When i removed the radiator hose to the engine then removed the two nuts that before getting to the thermostat, i found out that the inner lining base where the thermostat is all messed up. is that part of the base a part of the lower block or can i get it separately?

If your talking about the thermostat housing itself, that will unbolt from the block. A good pic is worth 1000 words, snap a pic and report back if you still need help.

not quite the housing.

you know when you take off the two bolts, the cover comes off? then you have the thermostat sitting in the base? well its the base i'm talking about. is that a part of the lower block that can easily replaced or am i screwed?

Here, this is a B18C1, but your car is exactly the same.

See how there's a 10mm bolt that holds the thermostat housing (or base as you call it) to the block? Remove that 10mm bolt and pull the housing off the black water pipe and it'll come off. The only thing that holds it to the pipe is a rubber O-Ring.

Just to save a headache, there are actually TWO 10mm headed bolts that hold that on.
