Sirius S50 Direct Connection?
How do you connect a Sirius S50 directly into an OEM Honda radio/cassett or cd player in 91 Civic Hatch, eliminating the use of the cigarette lighter connection? Thanks
If your not sure that you know what your doing, take it to a professional. No need to blow up your Sirius radio. Also they have specialty mounts that look nice, instead of suction cup on the windshield LOL . But if you feel confident go ahead and try.
First you need a car installation kit. When you get the kit connect the tip of your cig lighter adapter to yellow with red stripe wire on the back of the radio power plug. TEST THE WIRE using a multi-meter, it will read 12v when the radio turns on with the key. Then connect the metal tabs on the side of the cig adaptor to ground. The black wire on the power plug. Or you can get a socket with wires and connect them to the wires mentioned. Next plug in the antenna adapter. Then mount the unit and hide your wiring.
It takes me about 1 hour to do a satellite radio. I have done car stereo for 4 years professionally. It should take you about 3 hours.
