Brake pedal freeplay
I took my car in to get my rear brakes changed out today cuz one of my calipers froze up, so I went with there recommendation and just got 2 new calipers. They bled just the rear brakes and now the brake pedal goes down 3/4 of the way before the brakes actually do anything, but at that point it still brakes just as hard as it always did (but before there was no freeplay).
I was just looking in the haynes manual and the specified pedal freeplay tolerances are 1/16"-3/16" of freeplay, I have a good couple inches of freeplay... Whats up with this?... This happened once before when I had the brake fluid changed and I heard if you don't bleed the brakes in the correct order the proportioning valve doesn't fill all the way, but is this an issue when you only introduce air at the rear brakes?
I took my car back there and they basically dumped a shitton of brake fluid through the rear lines (while filling the master cylinder), and were saying that the lines just run cross diagonally, so if fluid is dumping out at the rear lines, there has to be fluid at the front lines. How does the proportioning valve work and fit into this?... (The other issue is that they couldn't open the front bleeder screws, so there's basically no way I can bleed the front lines...)

sounds like you got the shaft man. Sorry to hear.
You need to get your system bled correctly. all 4 calipers. sounds like the guys you are dealing with are retarded. I would take it back to them and tell them to do it right, they already screwed you for new calipers, they might as well fix the other obvious problems.
