Should i rebuild my d15b7 or swap for something else
hi, i have a 1993 civic 2dr coupe with a high mileage d15b7, i want more horsepower...is it worth while to do up the motor i have or replace it with another one and do it up
new motor...theres so few aftermarket parts for the b7...only one company that makes rods for it...if u want to stick to single cam i recommend z6 and boost with a tune
*SEARCH* although no one can truly answer this question for you everyone has there own opinion but IMO its not worth messing with the b7 if youve got a tight budget go with another d (d15b,z6,y8) but definatly a new motor i wouldnt mess with a brand new b7 let alone a high mileage one....unless of course you were doing a mini but but even then not really worth it.
yea i dont know anythin bout that motor im new to imports....i know my chevys
money isnt the issue i was goin to order a crate engine, ive been ready other forums and i dont want to screw around with custom wiring harshness and that crap, anymore advice??

If you use a D series swap from 88-00, you will need to do minimal to zero wiring. Use your existing harness. It all plugs in.
If you add functions like VTEC or knock (3 wires total), then you'll have to do 3 wires worth of wiring. No big deal.
Buy a better engine. If you buy a good condition D series, it will probably be cheaper than rebuilding your old one. The D series is, for the most part, as disposable as a disposable razor. Got a bad/old one? Throw it out and get a new one unless you're building it to make a ton of power or something.
As far as the D series family goes, the D16Z6 and D16Y8 are probably the most desireable. They have displacement and VTEC over the B7. The EX/Si engines come with a better trans. That's going to be the BIGGEST bang for your buck mod to a D series.
If you want to keep yours...don't just rebuild it. That's a waste. Just replace it. The only reason to rebuild a D series is to build it to handle a ton of boost or something.
Check http://www.n1concepts.com or http://www.hmotorsonline.com for swap prices.
Buy a B series or some other real engine. The D series sucks.
I would get the engine and tranny together if I bought a D16Z6. Yours will work with it but the gears are much longer and you might fall out of VTEC after each shift.

You'll want the trans from a Z6 from a 92-95 civic or del sol si.
Use an ECU from a 92-95 Si also.
The links above link you to japanese motor swaps. They are usually lower mileage than an american motor swaps. The Japanese don't drive as much and they get rid of their cars sooner. The Z6 and Y8 were not japanese market engines.
For american market swaps, look on ebay or junkyards.
