Car ran rough yesterday Now wont at all! Need some help to find problem!
I have a 1996 Prelude with a H23a vtec (blue top SiR wagon) swap. I have been running a chipped ecu from phearables, and had no serious problems, ran well and really smooth for not having a tune. About a month ago at about 3am in morning I raced a friend of mine and my tps came loose. I bolted it back down and drove it for week when realized it was running rough as anything. So I diagnosed it as a misadjusted tps.
When I was working on adjusting it I could not get a voltage reading from the tps connector. So I began to troubleshoot, and at this time got a voltage reading from the tps at ecu so I knew I had a broken connection between ecu and connector. Well the (+) wire on tps connector was broken at top so I cut a tps connector from another harness off and sodered it on wire for wire(I have double checked to make sure they are right). After rewiring I swapped my throttle body due to a sticky grove I had in my stock one that came with motor (62mm), now having the h22 60mm. This TB does not have a map sensor location so my friend whos throttle body it was told me how to make it work.
So we ran a hose from the manifold(from vacumm) to the bottom of MAP sensor, and then connected to the sensor itself. No codes were up and it was running fairly good. I drove it the next day thinking it was fine and hit vtec getting past someone and my car bucked, throwing me out of vtec and hesitating to acclerate. Everytime it bucked or threw me out or if i hit a bump hard it seemed a code would flash then disapear quickly. My own diagnosis was a loose connection to the MAP sensor not trusting my friends ideal.
Well before I had come up with a new TB I ordered a new chip from Speedfactory becuase they had tuned personally a H23 vtec stock only with i/h/e. After installing chip my car cranked only to find it running extremely rich, Idling as if i was missing a complete cyllinder. However car would drive and I drove down the road with it for about 20 minutes checking the new tune out. I could feel a torque improvement but I felt as if the power wasn't there and a horrible hesitation in acceleration was there.
So going back to my diagnosis of MAP sensor I prepared myself to switch the Throttle body and map sensor. When I woke up before school today I cranked it up and it ran but I turned off again and took another car to school. After class about 2 hours later I arrived home and tried to crank it and there was NOTHING. It will turn over but no ignite. A solid code is on my dash and when i try to check what code it is it stays SOLID. I switched chips to the original chip before speedfactory to see if it was just the tune but no difference occured. Still I have no ignition.
I have reset my ecu( Pulled clock radio fuse, ecu fuses under feet, and battery (+). 20 minutes later I reconnected and tried to crank to find NOTHING again! Someone help please!
New Troubleshoot Info:
With old chip and key on tps from pin d21 to d11 thats sensor ground to the voltage reading is 1.45v from pin d22 to d11 there is 0v. Continuity between the sensor ground and the positive is good so there is not a broken connection. The tps only puts out .10v on (+) wire at connector now. When key is on I can hear my coil wire firing into distributor, how i know it is is becuase i grabed it earlier and shocked myself. Hope that helps
