Short Ram vs. CAI
Hey guys, few questions, same ol' ideal, anways, how does a short ram work exactly? Which will i get better performance from?

Short ram
It collects hot air from the engine bay, and stuffs it into your motor. You might actually be slower than stock.
CAI
Brings colder, denser air into your motor giving you more power.

the cai is good, but i wouldn't even risk hydrolock for a measly 1-2 whp gain.
the best option is keeping the stock intake, putting in a k&n filtercharger dropin filter and removing the resonator. the stock intake is desgined very well and i've been very happy with this setup. i gained some low end torque and my mid and top range has improved a lot, in all kinds of weather.
Hey Razor,
I have the same setup...stock aircleaner/ removed resonator + K&N insert. Did you remove the U-joint that goes 'down-then-up' or just the top reasonator part? Ever thought about running some dryer-ducting from the aircleaner to behind the bumper? (where it's H20 safe!) Any thoughts on the best setup for that?

My fender liner was damaged after my swap was complete. So while I was waiting to get my new one in I ran my custom intake as a short ram; after I got the new liner in I put the other piece on to make it a CAI and there was a seat of the pants difference. If you have an aftermarket header and no heat shield underhood temps do increase and the colder air is beneficial. As far as 1 or 2whp, thats alittle low of an estimate. If thats the only mod you are going to get then yeah maybe its not worth it other than the sound. But if you look at any individual modification alone it doesnt seem worth it, its the sum of the parts. Thats what building an engine is all about.
but for hydrolocking, coudnt I just get a bypass valve, also what does removing a resonator do? and will i notice improvemnt?

resonators are just pieces of plastic that takes up space. CAI all the way. scared of hydrolock? then get the bypass valve, dont ever go cheap on engine mods. thats where people try to fix things up way to fast and complain when **** blows up. do it correct the first time around and you'll never go wrong. SEARCH..i've replied in about every one...
