o na 1990 civic hatchback, the ball joint thats attched to the hub...that connects to the control arm is giving me problems.
when i try to tighten the nut on the stem of the ball joint...the whole stem turns.
do i need to relace the balljoint? and how do i replace it?

you don't need to replace it - put the nut on - place a pry bar (or similar) between knuckle and lower control arm and pry up on the knuckle while prying down on the control arm (like you are trying to separate them) to place tension on the stem - this should hold it in place while you tighten the nut - a lot easier with air tools
