New Main and rod bearings need break in?
Im just getting into the honda scene so i don't know much. But i had a z28, and i put in new rod/main bearings in. I didn't go over 3k rpms til i hit 900 miles and i used synthetic right away aswell. So i would say yes give it some break in time and using synthetic right away should not be a problem..
There is no break in period for bearings, just rings. The rings need to seat against the cylinder wall, but bearings dont have to create a seal with anything. Synthetic from the start is fine.

I don't think anyone was trying to seat the rings, unless that was just a FYI.
kinesistech wasn't referring to using synthetic oil for breaking in the rings....we all know better than that. He was stating thats it OK to use synthetic from the get go for the BEARINGS, as the guy stated in his Q that a hone was not done....just fresh bearings.

well, at least start up and run for about 30 miles with regular motor oil, then change to synthetic after, point being you need to clean out all particles and moly lube from bearings and coat with oil.
