Have spark and fuel...still wont start
We just put a rebuilt B20A5 in my roommate's 1989 Prelude...we have fuel to the motor, we have good spark, and the timing is correct. It barely started once and sounded like it was going to maybe die so my roommate got excited and hit the throttle to try and keep it going, then it died. Now all it does is crank. ANY ideas at all? Don't really feel like taking it to the shop when we are sooo close. Help would be appreciated. If I'm not being clear enough let me know too, THANKS!!
Does it sound like it is turning over normally? My thought here is that the CAM timing may be off.
I think that during starting, but ECU uses a pretty fundamental setup in that it ignores many of the sensor inputs.
On a rebuilt engine, I would still be strongly suspect of a timing problem, either on the spark or on the valves/cam.

yeah cranks over and sounds normal...we are thinking the guy that timed it didnt know what he was doing...the haynes manual says look at the markings w/ the flywheel, and line that up with the rotor pointing to number 1..however he used a crank pulley to line it up i guess, which I dont remember seeing timing marks on the crank pulley....another possibility is the firing order, anyone have it so that we can double check that? thanks for the reply by the way
Use the oil pump for setting cam timing, not the flywheel. Haynes and other generic manuals are useless. Dl the helms: http://www.spoonhonda.com
