My car won't turn on - 94 civic ex

My car won't turn on - 94 civic ex
I am not sure of what the problem could be, I had used the car earlier today and i went to turn it on now (2 hours later) and it would not crank. There are no lights on the dash when i put the car in ignition. I dont know what the problem could be. Any help would be appreciated.

in many years being a mechanic always start at the simple things first like
-battery
-alternator
-wires on the battery ( make sure they are tight)
-battery
-alternator
-wires on the battery ( make sure they are tight)
