A type r timing belt would be the best bet, but I would think that a gsr timing belt would also work. As for a harness any b series vtec harness should work, although you'll have to make some length adjustments on certain ones I would guess. It also depends on what ecu you plan to run. If you are running OBD-2 you obviously need an OBD-2 wiring harness. As for head bolts I believe you use the gsr head bolts, although I would recommend STUDS while you have everything apart.

you'll also need a vtec timing belt and vtec water pump. maybe a oil pump for a gsr.

I already said that...and you can't use a B16 timing belt as it will not be long enough. Also all water pumps are the same in a b series as far as I know, and oil pumps are the same between the models, although the newer versions are improved in '98 and up b series engines!

He already said he was building a poor man's type R = B18C block with some sort of high comp. pistons (P30, P73, etc.) and a B16/type r head with type r internals.

A Type R is a 1.8 liter so bulding one with a b16 block would just be a B16 with type r internals (valves, cams, valve springs, retainers) in the head.

Also, the Type R and B16 heads are of the same casting...just different internals and maybe minor porting differences.

Another note: If you can afford an R head, the setup probably wouldn't be called a poor man's Type R. The way to save money is by getting a cheaper B16 head and finding a complete set of ITR head internals, thereby saving money over just buying a Type R head. Since many of these parts are getting so cheap these days, you might just as well find a type r head instead of going through the hassle of finding the B16 head and seperate Type R internals. For reference I just sold a complete Type R head for $700.

Are you using a gsr block? If so then use gsr head studs!
