Is this true???????????
i am doing a ls vtec build...a b16a2 head with a b18 block..i just want to know and make sure if its true that i cannot use my b16 head bolts or timing belt???is this true??

i have my whole b16a2 engine and i was told to use my oil pump,waterpump,and possible the crank gear ..so even if i have the complete engine the timing belt and head bolts are no good to me ..i should get the timing belt and head bolts for either gsr or type r right??

Yes the b18 block is taller then the b16, so the b16 timing belt will be to short. And as far as head bolts go, if your goin through all this work of building this engine, new head bolts shouldn't even be a question, do it right the first time. Just get arp studs for a gsr liked stayed above...

and do i have to switch out the crank gear and place my knock sensor and does the ls have the spot already for the knock sensor???

hey i recommend a type r oil pump!! you want it to be reliable?? and do it right the first time?? then you'll spend the extra for a type r oil pump...

your block looks like this? LS are non vtec, so there would be a plug in that whole... take it out. Your head was vtec so its open.

Oil return line into your pan, use a drill bit the size of that taps shaft, run the tap through the whole after drill bit. make sure the drill bit is smaller then the tap.
your block looks like this? LS are non vtec, so there would be a plug in that whole... take it out. Your head was vtec so its open.

ok so i remove the plug and i dont have to make any holes on the head right??if i bout the vtec conversion kit i wouldnt have to make any holes with the tap since i have the oil sandwich(adapter)right??

ok here... let me help you with this... yes you need to tap the head NOT the block...
you need to tap the head and put the threaded plug into that taped hole... because the ls block does not have the oil ports that the b16 block has to supply the vtec
that is why you have the oil plate and the oil lines .. you are basically just re routing the oil supply to the head so that the vtec will work...
MAKE sure you tap that head becasue you will have to take the head back off if you dont cause there will be oil squirting like crazy from the head gasket..
1/8"NPT plug
Head Bolts:
GSR / ITR head bolts
Note: Do Not use B16a head bolts, they are shorter then the GSR/ITR ones.
Timing Belt:
use GSR timing belt.
the oil supply hole for activating the VTEC for stock motors. Since you cant use this anymore, youneed to plug it with a 1/8"NPT plug. Make sure you put some loctite or liquid sealant to make sure that there wont be any oil leak
here is an immage of the oil port you must tap and plug...be sure the plug sits under the head becasue if you have it sticking over the head it will not let the <U>head sit flush!!!!</U>

ok so i tap the head and i do not remove the plug in the block ..so basically i am plugging the head so that it does not leak oil through it...so how about the block ?i just leave the block with the plug then?so it seems like i have 2 choices..to remove the plug from the block or to add a plug to the head right?i need to kno since its my 1st time doing this so sorry if i ask 2 much questions

i got the part about plugging the head ,,which basically i make the whole bigger with the tap and then place the plug..but when i do this to the head will i still have to remove the plugg from the block??i am guessing no but let me know since i figuered it can be done 2 ways ..either take plugg of block or add plugg on head.
