what rethread / tap size to use for o2 bung?
This is for oem y8 header
I was taking it out and the primary o2 sensor hole is slightly stripped.
The stripped portion is mainly at the start of it, so i know if I could just rethread/tap the end of it, I would be able to screw in the o2 sensor.
what size tap to use for o2 sensor?
its probably metric easily, search at places on your computer for o2 bung thread pitch and that should give your answer. If not, take the sensor to your hardware store and try metric nuts on it and see what fits
I've never had to tap something.
Can this be done while the header still on the car/in the engine bay?
Does it require a lot of pressure while trying to tap it?

You could probably keep it in there. No pressure really. Just give it about a half turn or so then crack it the opposite way a little to break any chips out, then continue.
If you really want, I have an OEM Y8 exhaust mani just sitting around if you want it and don't want to bother tapping threads.

That would probably be easier than pulling it and worrying about rusted bolts throughout your exhaust. You just really need to make sure that you tap it straight.

I'll try tapping it and if I can't I'll let you know on the manifold.
Thanks fellas

Just ask for a tap, size M18x1.5. You'll need a tap wrench as well if you don't have one. Many places that carry tools will probably have some or can point you in the right direction if not.
shouldn't need a tap wrench with a tap that size, a regular wrench is just fine, use oil and do it slowly and straight, forward backward motion 1/2 turn at a time.
Put thick grease on the tap to catch most of the metal shavings.
