Electronic Tech's: Relaying a Logic Ground, Bad Idea?
I am entertaining the idea of using a few useless CKF wires in my main harness for a remote relay lockout type security.
My question is, if I were to relay (kill) the Logic Ground wires for the ECU could it cause any interference issues (electromagnetic etc...) with sensor inputs?
I'm probably just going to play it safe and use the power grounds.
I'm really more curious than anything...
Thanks
EDITED: That being said, I suppose I should ask if sending 12v through the shielded CKF/CKP/CYP/TDC "harness" to power the relay would cause any problems as well.
Hmm

if its really that questionable i would run a separate wire, you need to find someone really advanced in that area or think about a different route, i have a degree in EET and i couldn't tell you without putting it on an oscilliscope to test for noise in the wave.
Thanks for the unput twentyhurtz. I see where your coming from, its one of those things that someone would have had to do already to give me a straigh answer.
White Smoke, like I said its just curiousity. I am using power grounds.
Thanks guys

DO not use a relay to kill those sensors, I repeat do not. It will cause all kind of interferance and you will have problems. I tried it on my own car. And if you run hondata or any other ems it will cause problems. Just like you have to change plugs with hondata. This will cause the same problem and syptoms. Best bet is to use a relay to kill power to the ecu when the dizzy is hotwired to start the car. This will keep the ecu from resetting. The other best way is to use the main relay kill. This will not effect anything.
did you use a conventional relay that you would normally see in a cars fuse box or did you use a solid state relay?
