Default radiator flush step by step???

As some of you know my radiator and coolant reservoir had some kind of deposits inside. When I brought it to the dealer to get it flushed on warranty, they said that it might be due to the Water Wetter that I had in my car. They said that because the area I live in is so cold, that running WW on the streets caused some of the coolant to freeze up and leave deposits.

Nevertheless, I need to flush my radiator. I was wondering what the complete process would be. Please tell me if I left anything out.

1) Let car cool down completely

2) Remove radiator cap

3) drain radiator using plug on the bottom of the radiator on the passenger side

4) remove coolant from reservoir

5) run cold water through the reservoir until it comes out clear

6) replace plug and fill with 50/50 coolant and water mixture

7) put radiator cap back on, and then fill the reservoir with the 50/50

did i miss anyhting????

TIA

you're missing the engine block.

if you get a Helms it will give you the gouge.

---

there is a bolt of the front of the engine block that needs to be removed and then put back on with new washer/honda bond.

I'll just post the honda steps...

1. Set the heater temp. lever to maximum heat.

2. When radiator is cool, remove the radiator cap and drain plug, and drain the system.

(Drain the block as well, I don't know where it is on your car.)

(Might want to flush a few times w/ water before step 3)

3. Reinstall radiator drain plug and tighten.

4. Remove, drain and reinstall the reservoir. Fill the reservoir halfway to the max mark w/ water and other half w/ coolent.

5. Mix the recommended anit-freeze w/ an equal amount of water, in a clean container.

Note: Don't mix differernt types of anti-freeze. Year round 50% mixture, otherwise it will impair cooling efficicency.

>>>>>>>> Honda makes a coolent type 2. Perfectly pre-mixed coolent with distilled water -- no need to mix -- use only this, you can get it from a honda dealership or online<<<<<<<<< IMO

6. Loosen the air bleed bolt in the water outlet, then fill the radiator to the bottom of the filler neck w/ coolent mixture. Tighten the bleeder bolt as soon as the coolent flows out at a steady stream w/o bubbles.

7. With cap off, start engine and let it run until warmed up (fan goes on at least twice). Then, if necessary, add more coolent mix to bring level back up to the bottom of the filler neck.

8. Put cap back on and let run while you check for leaks...

Damn that took long to type. Hopefully some other motha phuckas can learn from this too.

Also, please dump old coolent in safe place, such as sink - not storm drain. Though your sink it is filltered...

In this step, should the car be on or should it just be turned over?

i don't think a sink would even be safe for coolant. just save it in a used milk jug and drop it off at an automotive shop or dealership. they recycle fluids properly.

you can do it at jiffy lube they hook a hose to your block and one to your radiator as the old fluid comes out new fluid comes in you can use your own fluid i did this with my car when i worked there
