Default Modding a b20

I have a 1998 CRV and I am wondering what you guys/gals would do if you had a b20 and were looking for more performance. I know aout headers, intake, exhaust, but what actual engine mods might you suggest???

what kind of goals do you have for this build, or is this just a hypothetical question? If you look around you will find all sorts of b20 builds, from turbo, to n/a b20 builds to turbo b20 vtec builds, and n/a b20 vtec builds. One of them will come close to what you are looking for. Remember, for any extensive mod (other than intake and exhaust) you are going to need some sort of engine managment.

B16 transmission wouldn't work, the manual crv's are cable shifted like the h22 and the k series, and they use a completely different transmission mount than the rest of the b series ransmissions. If you were to try it, what linkage would you use, what mount would you use?

Turbo sounds the easiest, OR what about VTEC head, with a GSR automatic ECU, and a VTEC controller. Is yours AWD? Hehe, the transfer case will probably fail first if it is.

Thanks everyone for the replies

Yes mine is all-wheel drive, and already manual

I too was confused about what trannies bolt up. I would like something with the lowest fifth gear ratio to save gas on the highway. any suggestions there?

My biggest issue with everything is that I dont have the time or space or knowledge or tools to work on my car myself, and I hate spending too much cash just on labour. Making things worse, I am in Canada and 2 hours from a major city with a big used market, so shipping things from USA gets pricey.

Goals: I have found b20vtec and I am aware of head swaps, but I can only imagine what someone local will charge for the work. Could turbo be cheaper? I want near-perfect reliability as my work relies on my transport

In the meantime, I will use the winter to read up, and first will lower the bad boy in the spring and get new wheels and tires then.....this is after all my winter beater, I have a s14 240sx I just put away in storage, but I am so stocked to be back in a honda and back on this board, i have the itch to mod the CRV of course

Hehe, I have the itch to sell my S13, which I just don't feel the connection with, like I did with my civic, or my STi, probably cause I never drive it. Keep your CR-V stock, man, and it'll last for a long time...also take care of that transmission!
