Chances are that you didn't bend a valve at 6.5k...Are you sure that it's a valve tapping? Could be rod knock. Does it get louder by rpm? Oil starvation at high rpm is bad.

have you adjusted the valves? it may not effect the performance like you said but its something you should keep up on. it'll also make loud knocking or ticking noise

Yep, or at least thats my guess, Y8s aren't axactly known for having the valve train fly apart, they are however known for spinning rod bearings, especially if you let them get low on oil. That and from what the OP stated in the original post thats pretty much dead on for a spun bearing. knocking starts out pretty quiet and just gets progressively louder.

yeah that can happen. to much metal to metal rubbing wears away the bearing fast

so with my y8 burning oil (~quart a fillup) from valve stem/seal should probably be kept at mid RPM (4 - 5k) ???

That's like making the assumption that fat ladies in neon spandex are easier to look at.

youve spun a rod bearing ive done it my self. really common in y8 blocks. with that said your motor is shot. find a d16z6 and do a swap try the search engine( type in "d16y8 to d16z6") to find out info on the swap ill help you to get a start. this is the best one ive found when it comes to info buy theres 8 more to read over
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2420417

when did the swap the hardest thing to do was to relocate that damn ITA sensor but other than that it was a breeze heres a site to get an obd1 to obd2 wireing harnest

Rod Knock, doubt it woudl be a bent valve unless you skipped timing or something.

Because its not JDM, you can find JDM SOHC ZCs which are essentially the same thing, or D15B Vtecs which are similar.
