Im sorry guys, iknow this has been posted before but i cant really find a thread with the same problem i have, well today i hit a speed bump a little hard and my car started rattling around the catback area like if something got loose and around there from hitting the bump, has this happened to anyone? does anyone know what i need to replace??

 

A while back, my car's exhaust kept rattling and I couldn't figure out what it was for a long time. Then one day I figured out it was the catalytic converter's heat shield that was loose and about to fall off so I yanked it all off. Also, you can make sure your heat shield is all bolted up!

 

you are going to have to slide under the car and look. it could be anything from your heat shield, to a bracket, to a rusted or broken pipe.

 

Thanks ima put my car up on the lift tommorrow and check it out, are there any rings or gaskets that might have cracked because of the hit?

 

I highly doubt it. I bet you just knocked something loose down there...

 

you could have messed up one of the hangars on the exhaust...they are in a little rubber thing. you could have knocked them out of that thing and it could be rattling back and forth. and i agree with crazy[racial pejorative]y0...your heat shield over your cat could be loose. my car also rattles a little bit but i still dont know...im thinkin bout rippin that heat shield off and see if that happens.
