Default How safe to drive on 3 studs?

[freak]ing have a broken wheel stud. [freak] theifs.

I've gotta drive the car 120 miles to get it home from the shop its sitting at.

Doesn't sound to safe, any input?

Rtaher not have to tow it

ive driven on 2 per wheel taking my car back from the junkyard. i think three for a short period will be ohk.

o0o didnt read. i road on 2 lugs. not sure about studs. maybe pull into a parking lot and fix it there? maybe pull it into a pepboys and let them fix it?

thats a very easy way to warp rotors and drums... but in short term you will be ok... even on the hwy...

you should ok, just make sure that other 3 are torque down to spec and just drive home smoothly.

Yeah my car was slammed and I had a h22 in it and I would punch it now and then and it was fine.

obviously not recommended, but thinking logically, the for/aft forces are not near as much of an issue as the side to side forces.

So baby the car, avoid pot holes and rough sections of road, slow down for corners, and you should be ok.

OP: you should be fine...just dont drive too fast and avoid potholes and such. i haave been driving my coupe on 3 lugs (i know its not the same but its close enough. ) for the 8 months i have owned it i thing. lol 3 lugnuts are jdm yo....

he's obviously retarded... most people that "torque" down lugs with air guns end up having studs break from... oh let me guess, being over torqued.

I drove my rhd from San Diego to Bellingham, Wa. 26 hours straight there with a broken rear wheels stud, so i'd say you'd be fine...but what do i know

you should be fine.

And as for tightening lug nuts with an impact, they generally don't tighten properly, especially aluminum wheels. You can tighten them with the impact, then put the socket on a bar and still get them to tighten quite a bit more.

how hard is it to just torque them to spec tho.. seriously. 80 ft lbs is not that much... at all. idk maybe i am just too over cautious about my car but i think i would rather just torque my lugs to spec and be done with it. honda obviously knew what they were doing when the made the specs.

actually when you overtighten lugnuts you then stretch the threads and cross thread them trying to take it off!!! i bet thats how the stud broke ta begin with
