Default *** ANOTHER GREAT DIY PAINTED HEADLIGHT WRITE-UP ***

For this project u r going to need:
- rtv (prefferably clear)
-a scuff pad
-spray paint
-an oven or heat gun
-basic hand tools
-little pry bar/screwdriver.

this is on a 96-98 headlight but its pretty much the same for all headlights.

heres the way it was wen i got the car.

there are 3 nuts/bolts for each headlight. the 3rd bolts are hidden underneath the fender.

rap the headlight in tin foil. preheat the oven to 225 degrees. put the headlight in the oven for 7-8 minutes. take the headlight out an try to pop out the clips around the outer edge first. take ur time prying the headlight apart with ur screwdriver. the old stuff should be gummyish.

scrape the old paint up to give the new paint something to adhere to. i did not relize the first time around that the relfector/blinker screws out from the back. so go ahead and do that be4 u scuff the old paint.

next: do a light coat of paint first. let dry 15-20 minutes(or go by directions on the spray can). do a medium second coat. no need for a third since the paint will not be enduring much. just make sure u cover everything on the second coat.

it is best to let dry overnight, but if u cant then let dry as long as possible.

next: put everything back together. put rtv in between the hedlight lense and the back of the headlight. it helps to get as much of the original glue out as possible.

let it sit for a while then put everything back together.

:D

and im not responsible any1 some how [freak]s sumthin up.
