Default how long can you drive a car with rod knock?

yeah my type r motor just got the early sounds of rod knock, but i got to get to work. It still got all its power and you can barely here hit but i know its going to get worse. How long can i get a way with this?

until the rod flys out the side of the block......then you cant run it anymore.

On a type R??? honestly even if that was my primary form of transportation i would shut it off and not start it until it is fixed so you do not do anymore damage. A type R is worth too much money to keep driving. You would be better off buying a POS daily driver than driving on the motor and risking it blowing up.

right now you are looking at replacing the bearings, possible crank, possible rods.....if you keep driving you will probaly have to replace the entire motor including the head....catch a ride unless you have some deep pockets

Do not drive th car anymore!!!!

Catch a ride, take the bus, ride your bike, walk, take a taxi, but do not destroy your motor so you can get to work.

It's time for a rebuild. Keep us updated.

you right i threw a rod threw the block today it went straight threw the block that **** looks crazy but i got a built gsr full motor that i be putting in this week. took the valve cover the head and cams still look good maybe i could save this head who knows

yeah mane i be home at 5 i take pics and post them. The rod came out the 2 cyclinder from right side of the block it came out by the header but did not mess up the header i tow it home last night while laughing and **** i let my girl drive it to work she made it there but on the way home she was on the highway and she said it sounded bad and just blew up and smoke was every where it scared the **** out of her ha ha LOL. I got a flash light and that **** just go a hole in the front BUY have not jaced it up amd look at the back side i know it [freak] all away round and the car smell like **** LOL. i start to take the head off and so far so good it look fine but i to get all the way off to see what the valves look like the cams the springs and retainers look fine SO FAR

This has to be the dumbest thread i have read on here. Why would you destroy a perfect block you have to be an idiot. And risking your girl's life what happens if that thing would have caught fire??

naw mane the things was it was not even that loud and what not even that far of a drive just start a day ago and the day i started this thread the day it blew which was yesterday but really did not care cause was not going to use the block no more anyway was going to let mey my friend get it for free so what [freak] it mane
