bad oil psi gauge? oil leak?
so i got an oil sandwich adapter and hooked up my autometer oil psi gauge sender to it. The first start up after the oil change, the gauge was working. Then i shut the car off to tighten the filter down more and the bolts that were leaking. I used teflon on the extra block off bolts. So i restarted the car and this time the oil psi gauge wasn't working at all. And now i still have oil leaks coming from the filter and the bolts. Anyone know why the gauge didn't work the second time?
As for the leaks, i think i'm just going to take everything off when i go home and clean it and use teflon tape rather than liquid teflon...hopefully i won't have anymore.

Does Autometer use a mechanical (small nylon tube) Oil Pressure gauge or do they use an electrical sensor?
Either way, it might make more sense to either tee off to location for the original Oil Pressure Sensor (Just above the Oil Filter) or forget the Dash Gauge all together and just use the Autometer.

The sending unit oil pressure sensing hole may have gotten plugged with liquid teflon if you used it there, take it out and see if it is blocked off some how.
well worst case scenario, i'm sending it back to summitracing since i have a 1 year warranty on it and they'll send me a new one.
Yes i do have the electric autometer phatom psi gauge. My original plan was to tee of the stock oil psi location, but the only problem with that is that the brass connector will break.

Why not Sh*tcan (as we say in New England :-) ) the OEM unit and sub the Autometer unit. You can only watch one oil pressure gauge at a time, Right?
