ok i have tried to hook up my autometer electric oil gauge and it is not working. i have what should be a quick and easy question.

now when i hook up the gauge i dont get anything, the needle doesnt even jump up to zero when i turn on the car. I KNOW FOR A FACT that the wiring is not the problem, because when i use the exact same wires tapped into the same place the egt gauge works.

so..... does anyone have any idea, or know of anything with the electric oil gauges that it might be? or am i right in assuming the gauge is just defective?

What did you tap the oil pressure sensor for the gauge to? Did you connect it to the stock oil pressure sensor on the back of the block by the oil filter or did you connect it to someplace else?

 

yea, i have a oil pressure sensor relocation kit to the fire wall.

 

did you remeber to tighten the bolt down on the sending unit were you signal wire is....the first time i put my on, i hand tightend the nut and the guage did not work... i had to tighten it down with a small wrench....

 

my oil pressure needle would jump all the way to the right when not hooked up to the sender... you might have a defective unit...

If the sending unit body is not grounded properly the gauge will not work.
