Default weird "thunk" noise

I noticed yesterday that when I am reversing and I step on the brakes, then release the pedal, as soon as I release it, I can hear an audible metallic "thunk" noise coming from what seems to be the driver side front of the car. It doesn't do this when driving forward.

Does anyone know what this could be?

brand new rotors as of last week, if they were bad, they would do it going forward too.

gotta watch out for midget robots... but for real, you should determine if it is a brake problem or a crank problem.

why would it be a crank problem? It does it regardless of whether the car is even on or not, clutch pushed in or not, it has nothing to do with the engine turning.
